Due to ever changing circumstances, it is not possible for ordinary beings to avoid a troubled mind from time to time. When this happens, it is not uncommon to seek refuge in drugs, alcohol, a myriad of other types of distraction, or even suicide. This strategy of avoidance only leads to many more problems. If we wish to overcome uncomfortable situations and feelings, we need to gradually improve our mind so that we can permanently liberate it from our habits of mental despair. If we conquer our inner problems, we naturally shall become a very powerful being.

A meaningful life is one, whereby we make substantial changes to our way of thinking and behaving. The changes we should try to make are things that benefit both our self and others. In our modern world, most people struggle to find a meaningful life and pursue wealth and possessions as their ultimate standard of life’s meaning. In reality such attainments are empty and hollow, because we cannot take any of this with us to future lives. Instead, we should focus on planting the seeds of a meaningful life and thereby grow virtues in our own mind.
