Due to the restrictions imposed on our lives, from time to time, we may find our self feeling depressed and holding a foreboding sense of hopelessness. Fortunately, the Buddhist spiritual path provides us with much to be hopeful about and offers many methods to maintain a happy and positive outlook for the future. Even if we are not currently depressed or despondent, we often still need inspiration and hope for our future. This course will compare and contrast the bad mental habit of hopelessness verses the uplifting mind of hope.

The way in which we engage our world is through our mind. Our mind determines what we like and dislike and every other aspect of the things we perceive. Unfortunately, our mind is clouded and obscured by mental hindrances, such as ignorance, accumulated negative karma, negative mental factors, and wrong views. To attain everlasting happiness we need to clear our mind of these hindrances, otherwise we shall not be able to achieve fulfillment of all of our wishes. Learn the basic practices that clear our mind from such hindrances so that we can provide great meaning to our life.
